Case study · Oracle EBS · An international industrial manufacturer

Near-real-time VAT reporting on an established Oracle EBS environment.

An international industrial manufacturer serves European markets from several locations. Its finance function runs on a long-established Oracle EBS environment. itax4apps was connected directly to the existing Oracle EBS environment to provide near-real-time indirect tax reporting alongside it.

The problem

A mature Oracle EBS environment carries years of accumulated configuration and local reporting workarounds. The finance team was reluctant to disturb it, while the European reporting and e-invoicing obligations it has to meet keep expanding.

Producing returns meant extracting from Oracle EBS and reassembling the figures outside the system, which made reconciliation slow and put the periodic close under pressure.

Our approach

  1. 1

Assess the existing Oracle EBS environment

We reviewed the tax setup and reporting flows already in place in Oracle EBS, and identified which reporting requirements the standard output could not satisfy.

  2. 2

    Connect itax4apps alongside Oracle EBS

itax4apps is connected directly to the existing Oracle EBS environment and reports on tax data recorded in Oracle EBS. Nothing is adjusted, rebooked or overwritten.

  3. 3

Configure the Oracle Tax Engine where needed

Where determination itself needed attention, that work was carried out separately in the Oracle Tax Engine through etax4apps, keeping determination and reporting cleanly apart.

  4. 4

    Reconcile continuously

Recorded transactions are reconciled with the Oracle EBS source data as they arise, so anomalies appear in the dashboard rather than during the close.

Results

  • Near-real-time VAT reporting connected alongside an established Oracle EBS environment.
  • Reporting and tax determination kept separate: itax4apps reports, the Oracle Tax Engine determines.
  • Reconciliation available per return, from each filed figure back to its source posting in Oracle EBS.
  • Less manual reassembly of return data outside the ERP.
