We moved house. The source of truth did not.

Our new home for VAT reconciliation and digital tax insight for Oracle ERP. New address, same principles: Oracle stays the source of truth.

A laptop showing the new 4apps.com homepage, standing on moving boxes in a sunny new home.

Anyone who has ever moved house knows the moment.

The boxes are packed, the van is booked, and somewhere between the attic and the hallway you find things you forgot you owned. A drawer full of cables for devices that no longer exist. Three copies of the same manual. A folder labelled "important" that turns out to contain nothing important at all.

Moving forces a simple question: what actually matters?

This week our new website went live at 4apps.com. New design, new structure, a proper place for the articles we write. And while building it, we found ourselves asking exactly that question.

What we decided to leave behind

A website is a bit like an ERP environment that has grown for years. Every page was added for a good reason at the time. Together they told a story that had become harder to follow than it should be.

So we cleared out. Fewer pages, clearer language, and a sharper focus. Our work centres on organisations running Oracle Fusion Cloud ERP and Oracle E-Business Suite, and the new site reflects that choice.

What we packed very carefully

Some things you do not throw in a random box. You wrap them, label them and carry them yourself. For us, those are three principles.

Oracle remains the source of truth.
Transactions, tax treatment and financial postings live in Oracle. itax4apps sits next to it, not inside it, and never becomes a second administration. When something needs correcting, the correction happens in Oracle, where the mistake was born.

Reconciliation comes first.
A VAT return, an audit file or an electronic invoice is only as reliable as the data behind it. Before anything is filed or reported, you want to see that the VAT Summary ties back to the general ledger, and that every amount can be traced to the transactions that make it up.

We enable compliance. We do not replace responsibility.
The organisation stays in charge of its tax position. Our role is to make that position visible, explainable and easier to defend, across countries and legal entities.

None of this is new. It simply has a better address now.

What you will find here

Every Tuesday and Friday we publish a new article. Some are practical, some are stories, and occasionally one will make you smile. All of them try to answer a question Tax, Finance and Oracle teams actually ask:

  • What changes in Germany, Norway and other countries on 1 January 2027, and what does it mean for daily operations?
  • Why does an invoice that was "sent" not always arrive?
  • How do you prove that the number on your VAT return is right?
  • And this month: who actually owns the VAT data? Tax, Finance, IT, the ERP owner, or everyone until something goes wrong?

One thing that never moves

Houses change. Websites change. Mandates certainly change.

The question your tax authority, your auditor and your CFO will keep asking does not: can you explain this number?

If the answer starts in Oracle and ends with a clear audit trail, you are in a good place. If it starts with "let me check the spreadsheet", we should probably talk.

Welcome to the new house. Make yourself at home.
